Mystical Moments in Nature
Apprehensions of What-Is has just been published. With this slender volume, I have broached one of the most difficult subjects: those fleeting, mystical moments that some of us occasionally experience in the wild and what they can or cannot tell us about the nature of things.
I flatter myself when I say that these 110 taut paragraphs border upon being prose poems, when so many of them are simply riddles. Part philosophical treatise, part spiritual autobiography, this book traces my lifelong struggle to know the unknowable while immersing myself in the wonder, beauty, power and mystery of wild nature. The Romantics called it the sublime. Whether this approach to What-Is has any merit is a matter of opinion, I suppose. I believe it does.
